What is VBeam® Photo Rejuvenation?
VBeam® is a pulsed laser that successfully treats facial rosacea and rejuvenates your skin. If you have embarrassing facial redness, sun damage, or a number of other issues, VBeam® gives you a more beautiful complexion through a fast, safe, and effective procedure.
Awarded as a New Jersey Top Doctor for more than ten years, Dr. Glenn Kolansky of Advanced Dermatology Surgery and Laser Center is recognized as a leader in performing VBeam® procedures in Monmouth County and throughout NJ.
How Does it Work?
VBeam® photo rejuvenation is a pulsed dye laser, which means that the laser energy is delivered in pulses and a dye is used to generate laser beams of different colors. In order to treat rosacea, or dilated blood vessels, the laser targets the red protein in blood cells in the blood vessels called hemoglobin, without damaging the skin cells that surround it.
Frequently Asked Questions About VBeam®
If you have redness on your face, stubborn warts, or if you have sun damage on your chest and neck, VBeam® procedures are a safe and effective treatment with little or no complications.
During the procedure, the pulsed dye laser sends concentrated light energy directly into the target area. Though most people say the procedure is a minor discomfort rather than painful, there may be a little pain during the treatment.
Many people tolerate this slightly uncomfortable sensation without anesthesia. In fact, some people say that it feels like a rubber band snapping against the skin as an initial warm, stinging sensation that quickly subsides after each pulse.
VBeam® photo rejuvenation treats a wide variety of skin conditions, including:
- Red and brown discoloration
- Vascular and pigmented lesions
- Wrinkles
- Acne
- Rosacea, or dilated blood vessels
- Cherry angiomas, or small red clumps of blood vessels
- Red birthmarks, or port wine stains
- Stubborn warts, scars, and bruises
- Sun damage on neck and chest
- Stretch marks
- Many others
VBeam® treatments should lead to the disappearance of the vascular lesion without scarring and is considered to be a very safe form of treatment with no serious complications.
However, some patients may develop a brown discoloration or a lighter color of the treated area compared to the surrounding skin. These should return to normal over several weeks following the treatment.
Many patients see results immediately following the procedure, though this depends on the condition the procedure was treating. While improvement is typically seen after only one session, some people may require additional treatments.
While the number of treatments that are required depends on the size, location, depth, and color of the vascular lesion, some discolorations, such as facial spider veins, may be cleared after only one visit. Others require more and treatments are scheduled one to two weeks apart.
